How To Turn Life Experience Into Money As A Content Creator (Stake Your Claim In The Digital Goldrush)

Everyone has seen it, kids in their 20's making millions of dollars on the internet.

While others are stuck working jobs they hate and been treated like a wage slave.

Often living pay check to pay check.

Most of the time getting only to get few weeks off a year to spend recuperating.

All so they can go back and do it all again for another year.

Maybe one day they will save enough money to retire on before they wear out.

So that they can enjoy life.

Being born before the internet was even a thing, I got to watch as the internet became mainstream.

I watched as debates raged over whether you needed a website for business or would email become a thing. Or was it all just a fad.

Fast forward to today and we know how it turned out.

The Internet Won.

Businesses have gone from servicing a local area to being connected to the world.

The world that was once only available to large multinationals. Is now accessible to the individual.

As you are reading this, the playing field has been evened out.

Big business no longer has the advantage.

No code tools and a population with a thirst for knowledge has given birth to the next revolution.

The Creator Economy.

The good news is it’s still early days, so you haven’t missed the wave.

The creator economy is projected to double in size from $250B to $480B over the next 5 years.

There is plenty of time for you to carve out your piece.

For some who may be older or not had time to access to learning how to build a business online.

You'd be forgiven for thinking you can’t do this because you:

  • Can’t code

  • Are too old

  • Have no time

  • Missed the boat

  • Think online business is a scam

  • Don’t have anything valuable to teach

The problem standing between you and what you see online entrepreneurs isn’t any of the above.

The Big Problem Is A Lack Of Understanding.

In today’s internet, no coding experience is needed.

Websites and online tools will do all the heavy lifting for you. Often for free.

Even with zero experience, you can have a website up and running in under an hour.

Being older is an advantage.

You have more life experiences to draw on and thus more value to teach.

It's impossible to make it to your 40's without learning anything valuable.

You have plenty to teach and thousands of dollars of knowledge in your head.

You can build an online income with as little as 2hrs a day.

I learned this from Dan Koe by taking his course the 2hr writer.

You learned to walk.

You learned to talk.

Both of which are more difficult than building an online business in 2023.

You Can Do This!

The impact to the life of those who catch the creator wave and stake a claim in the digital gold rush is massive.

Imagine

  • Working from anywhere

  • Being able to control your income

  • Having more time for family and fitness

  • Never have to answer to a boss ever again

  • Being a business owner without the headaches of traditional businesses.

Steps To Join The Digital Gold Rush:

1) Follow creators who have built the life you would like to have.

For me that is Dan Koe, Codie Sanchez and Justin Welsh.

Study how they write and map out how they encourage you to buy their online products.

2) Create a list of topics and interests you would like to write about.

Try to make them fit into these three categories.

  • Can make you money

  • Excites you

  • Compliments the other two interests

3) Listen to podcasts, read books or do anything else that brings you inspiration. When ideas come to mind, document them in a journal or in your phone for later.

4) Research copywriting frameworks. AIDA, APAG and PAS are a great place to start. These work, so use them.

5) Research high performing content e.g. a YouTube video that went viral on a topic you want to write about.

Look at the title and write about it in your own words using the copywriting frameworks.

Steal Like An Artist. NEVER Copy.

That means take inspiration but never copy paste. Your value comes from you and not being a knockoff.

6) Choose which social media platform you want to build on first.

This is where the work starts so if you are a beginner or have time pressure pick one.

Dan Koe recommends Twitter (X) because it doesn’t punish you for posting a lot and it is a writing-based platform.

I listened to him because his results speak for themselves.

7) Start posting. Make friends online, share, like, comment and engage on their content. Be valuable. It will come back to you, and it is how you build momentum.

It will start slow but keep at it. You will find your way.

8) Build somewhere to send the people who love your content.

A newsletter or a blog is a great next step. It helps you learn to write long form content and give you the ability to build an email list.

It also gives you a place to advertise your digital products for those who want to continue the journey with you.

9) From your knowledge and high performing content, you can build an online product or service which you can begin to make money from.

You can study about "value ladders." Or if you want the quick way look at what your favourite online mentors do and take inspiration from that.

Look at how they start selling their products, how much extra they charge each next step is to get an idea.

Take note of emails they send you and landing pages they use.

10) Remember this is not only life changing work, but your life’s work.

There will be times you will feel frustrated, and you will want to quit.

But you didn’t give up on learning to walk and talk so don't give up on this.

This is how some solopreneurs make millions.

Have fun with it and stake your claim in the digital goldrush.

Until next time.

I hope you have a most outstanding day.
